God is here right now, in this room.
Let’s try to give that statement its appropriate weight. In Exodus 33, Moses asked God to show him God’s glory. We pick up in verse 19:
| Exodus 33:1-23 NLT |
The LORD replied, “I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will call out my name, Yahweh, before you. For I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose. But you may not look directly at my face, for no one may see me and live.” The LORD continued, “Look, stand near me on this rock. As my glorious presence passes by, I will hide you in the crevice of the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will remove my hand and let you see me from behind. But my face will not be seen.”
God told Moses clearly that no one can see Him and live. Moses had to be hidden in the crevice of a rock with his back to the awesome glory of God. Even that wasn’t sufficient to protect him though. God covered Moses with his own hand.
The same God Who covered Moses with his hand so that Moses would not be destroyed by God’s glory is in this room.
Jesus Christ, the very Word by which all things were made, promised in Matthew 18:20 that
“...where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”
In order to strengthen the faith of one another and any who may not yet have a relationship with Jesus, I ask that you answer out loud: Are you here gathered in the name of Jesus Christ as His followers?
With that group testimony, we know God the Son is here. While we do not see His physical body which is seated at the right hand of the father’s throne, we know that Jesus Christ is in the room
We worship a triune God. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
Jesus promised He would send the Holy Spirit. Consider:
| John 14:15-26 NLT |
“If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you. Soon the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Since I live, you also will live. When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.” Judas (not Judas Iscariot, but the other disciple with that name) said to him, “Lord, why are you going to reveal yourself only to us and not to the world at large?” Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them. Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me. And remember, my words are not my own. What I am telling you is from the Father who sent me. I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
Jesus Christ assured His followers that after His departure, He would send them the Holy Spirit, also called the Helper, Advocate, or Comforter. He promised that the Holy Spirit would dwell within believers, teaching them all things, reminding them of His words, and guiding them into all truth (John 14:16-17, 26; John 16:13). The Spirit would convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8) and empower His disciples to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). Jesus also spoke of the Holy Spirit as the source of living water that would flow from within those who believe in Him (John 7:37-39). Ultimately, the Holy Spirit was given to bring God's presence into the hearts of believers, leading them into a deeper relationship with the Father and the Son (John 14:23, Romans 8:9-11).
The Holy Spirit is completely God. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are present with us now. He’s in this room. Let’s take a quiet moment to quietly speak to HIm. He is Who we are here to worship. So, personally and immediately, please take this opportunity to recognize His presence and ask that He fill you in a new way today. Even if it’s scary.
I have questions, and to make it easy on you I’ll tell you the answer ahead of time. The answer is always Yes. So I will ask the question, you consider the answer and I will share with you from scripture why it is yes through the power and presence of God the Holy Spirit.
Are you different from the world around you?
Yes (Romans 12:2 – “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. ”)
We are not like the world around us. We are not to move with the tide of culture or bow to the shifting winds of opinion. We are set apart, transformed by the renewing of our minds, walking in a reality far greater than what this world can see. The Spirit of God has made us new, shaping our hearts, reshaping our desires to match His, and giving us power to resist our desires that are contrary to His.
Do you daily live with a power beyond that of a nuclear reactor humming in your chest?
Yes (Ephesians 3:20 – “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. ”)
We do not walk through life powerless. Inside every child of God hums a power greater than the strength of nations, greater than the energy of a thousand suns. It is not our own—it is His, surging through us, enabling us to accomplish more than we could ever ask, think, or imagine. This is the power of the Holy Spirit, the very breath of God within us, the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, alive and active in us today.
Do you face this world with the bearing and identity of a member of the royal house of God Himself?
Yes (1 Peter 2:9 – “...you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.”)
We do not wander as lost souls searching for meaning. We know who we are. We bear the name of the Most High God. We walk as heirs to a Kingdom that has no end, clothed in the garments of royal priests, diplomats of light in a darkened world. The world may not recognize us, but because of the Holy Spirit living in us, heaven does, and celebrated when we turned from our sin and embraced the gift of life through our Savior Jesus Christ. The enemy also recognizes the Holy Spirit in us, and hates us for we do not belong to the lost, we do not belong to the enemy—we belong to the King.
Do you move untouched through raging storms with the unshakable peace of one whose soul is anchored beyond the veil?
Yes (Hebrews 6:19 – “This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.”)
Storms will come. The winds will rage, the waters will rise, and fear will whisper its lies. But we do not sink. We do not break. Our souls are anchored in something deeper, something unseen. Our hope is not built on shifting sand but on the unshakable rock of Christ. His Spirit within us steadies us when the world trembles, keeping us firm when everything else is falling apart.
Does courage rise in you like a roaring fire, defying the fear that tries to paralyze you?
Yes (2 Timothy 1:7 – “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”)
We do not bow to fear. Fear is a liar, a thief, a prison built of shadows—but we do not live in shadows. We have been given a Spirit of power, of love, of self-discipline. We have a courage beyond logic and reason. It is a courage ignited by the Holy Spirit rising up within us, setting fire to timidity, breaking chains, and sending us forward with boldness.
Do you hear the whisper of God cutting through the static of a world addicted to noise, guiding your steps?
Yes (Isaiah 30:21 – “Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.”)
The world is loud. The voices of culture, of doubt, of distraction, of social media, of news reports, of all things contrary to God, scream for our attention. But we have learned to listen for something greater. The whisper of God, cutting through the noise, calling us by name, speaking truth where the world speaks lies, calling us forward when everything else says to turn back. His voice is clear, His leading sure, His guidance unfailing. We follow the voice of the Holy Spirit, and He never leads us astray.
Do chains that once bound your heart now lie shattered at your feet, as you step forward in the liberty of the redeemed?
Yes (2 Corinthians 3:17 – “For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”)
Once, we were bound. Chains of sin, of addiction, of fear, of shame, of jealousy, of self-centeredness, of arrogance once held us. But those chains are nothing now but dust at our feet. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom—true, unshakable, undeniable freedom. We have been called out of sin and death, called into the glorious liberty of the redeemed. Nothing holds us captive anymore except the glory of God reigning in our lives.
Do you stand before giants—not trembling, but smiling—because you already hear the echoes of their fall?
Yes (1 Samuel 17:47 – “And everyone assembled here will know that the LORD rescues his people, but not with sword and spear. This is the LORD’s battle, and he will give you to us!”)
The giants that stand before us are not bigger than our God. They taunt, they threaten, they rise like mountains before us—but we do not tremble. We do not fight with swords or spears, with strength or strategy alone. The battle belongs to the Lord. The victory is already written. When we surrender to the Holy Spirit, we stand, not in fear, but in faith, knowing that every stronghold, every obstacle, every enemy that sets itself against God’s purpose in our lives will fall.
Does your worship rise not just as a song, but as a force—a fragrance of heaven so potent that darkness recoils?
Yes (John 4:24 – “For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”)
Our worship is not a ritual. It is not a song sung half-heartedly or a moment of routine. Our worship is a weapon, a force that shakes the heavens, a fragrance that rises like incense, a sound that makes darkness flee. We worship not just with our voices, but with our lives, our obedience, our surrender. And when we worship, hell trembles. Not because our worship special or powerful, but because our worship is inhabited by the God we serve.
Does joy rise in you—not as a fleeting emotion, but as a battle cry that hell itself cannot silence?
Yes (Romans 15:13 – “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”)
We do not chase after happiness, for happiness is fleeting. We walk in joy—deep, unshakable, battle-tested joy. Joy that does not depend on circumstances. It is a product of the knowledge that our unchanging God is the source and protector of our salvation. Joy that sings in the prison cell, that stands firm in the storm, that refuses to be silenced by the trials of life. The joy of the Lord is our strength, and no power on earth or in hell can take it from us.
Do you feel the weight of eternity pressing against your soul, reminding you that this world is not your home?
Yes (Hebrews 12:28 – “Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.”)
We are not at home in this world. This life is a breath, a mist, a moment in eternity, and we are not here to waste it. Because of the Holy Spirit’s presence in our lives, we live as ambassadors of a greater Kingdom, a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, a Kingdom that will never fall. Every step we take is a step toward eternity, and we walk it with purpose, with reverence, and with fire in our bones.
Do you walk with the unyielding confidence of one who knows that resurrection power is not just a story, but a force surging through your very being?
Yes (Romans 8:11 – “If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies.”)
And we walk, not in our own strength, but in the power of resurrection itself. This power is not a story from the past—it is alive in us today. The same Spirit that breathed life into a dead body in a borrowed tomb now breathes life into us. Every weakness is met with His strength, every weariness with His power, every broken thing with His resurrection life.
God is in the room. He is Forever Holy. He is the single greatest vision we could possibly want. And we are so blessed.
So by the power of the Holy Spirit, share the one true gospel of Jesus Christ with your lives this week. If necessary, use words, but never forget, we don’t go alone. We are blood-bought children of God. We are joint heirs with Jesus Christ the King of all Creation. This is who we are. This is what we have been given.
So rise up.
Walk unafraid.
Stand firm.
Worship fiercely.
Live in joy.
Move in power.
Carry your identity.
For you are filled with the Spirit of the Living God!
Go forth—bold, unshaken, and on fire.
For you are not alone, wherever you are, God is in the room.
Amen
